Laughter

Recently I was explaining to someone a very serious dilemma I was experiencing and the anxiety and frustration that accompanied it. I shared all the details, which were far from trivial or superficial. My friend paused for a moment and responded, "Silent Thunder, have you ever tried laughing at it?" I replied, "NO, it isn't funny!" My good friend then taught me a great lesson. There are people and circumstances in life that want us to fear. Though dilemmas and feelings may be anything but humorous, laughter is a weapon that disarms the enemy. Besides, laughing feels so good! I have always laughed at little problems, but I've never felt like or tried laughing at the monster ones that are super serious. Why not give it a try?! Afterall, we all know I could stand to be a tad bit, okay a huge bit, less serious.

I'm with you there. I haven't felt much like laughing lately, but the sense of humor is coming back, and I think it's high time I giggle a bit.

Personally I love to laugh! ;o) (Might explain why Mary Poppins was my favorite movie growing up) I think it is such a healthy pass time and helps each of us to gain a better perspective of what's going on in our lives.

You know what else helps you gain perspective of life? Graveyards. When I was going to school at Dixie I used to walk to the graveyard and sit down just to think. That place had a very calming peaceful feeling though. Not all do. Anyway, keep up the laughter. :)

Shoot, Silent Thunder! First of all I want to say that I am a huge fan of you exactly the way you are and second, I love to sit and laugh with you at various functions. I mean seriously, the good times are numerous, and the laughter plenty. I think I need to take that advise as well. I need to laugh at the monster, super serious dilemas in life more often. The couple of times that I have done so, it has proven very helpful.

Laughter is wonderful. If you are laughing at a problem, how can it seem like a problem, right? So maybe you should just let out a jolly chuckle.

Having been friends with Silent Thunder nearly all my life, I have enjoyed laughing with him so often. When we were younger we used to laugh and laugh and we were happy. Since I have gotten married and gone to school elsewhere we have not been as close. I sorely miss those times and find it a rare even that I actually laugh at all. Thanks for the reminder Silent Thunder and hopefully soon we will be laughing again like we used to. Thank you for all those wonderful memories.

"If you chance to meet a frown, do not let it stay. Quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away."

That was my little song from me to you. Thanks for letting me get your shoulder a tad bit wet on Sunday. I smile because I have friends like you!
